Vacations at Home

While I enjoy travel, it's not really that vital to my enjoyment of free time or something I consider necessary to vacations. I've only ever been out of the US three times in my entire life, and only one of those times was for a vacation. There have been many times in my life where I didn't travel for vacations much at all. So anytime I have travelled anywhere for any reason it's been something of a novelty. This has become even more the case now, since I still practice all pandemic safety precautions. I barely even travel out of the locality where I live these days, but I've still found plenty to keep me occupied.

I've learned so much about what's near me during this time since I haven't really had much of anywhere else to go. I've learned where all the parks in the area are, and there are some other points of interest I visit from time to time too. I think the place where I live seems more real to me now as a place I actually occupy and spend time in rather than simply passing through to get between home and my real destination. I even just walk around my apartment complex sometimes. I figured out how the numbering scheme works that way. Also took note of some of the more interesting exterior decorating choices.

The biggest reasons I have to go places at all are that I like being outside and it's the only significant exercise I get. Most of the activities I'm interested in actually doing are things that it's easiest to do at home anyway.
