Taxes vs Reading People Arguing On the Internet

I was getting upset that people were arguing their positions badly on the internet but I realized this wasn't a good use of my time so I started doing taxes instead.

The Taxes Are Done--But Alas, Some Sort of Health Woes

I submitted my taxes late last night. I probably would have been able to finish earlier but I've been in a lot of pain the last few days and that delayed things somewhat. But I think I know what I need to do to be on top of things for my taxes next year though so hopefully I can actually finish early then. Hopefully what I've learned this year will help with that.

Not entirely sure what's up with my body right now but I am feeling somewhat better today if not 100% and have been writing down what's going on. I've identified a few possibilities with the help of Dr. Search Engine, but I don't want to assume too much. This does not seem to be covid or anything viral at all, but I'm at a bit of a loss of what to make of it.

I actually have talked to my doctor recently about this and some other issues I've been having and I think they were helpful with addressing some of the issues I was having, but I think now that there might have been more than one problem, alas.

I wish I didn't have to fill out all these tax forms. The American tax system is purposely messed up because of lobbying by the big tax preparer companies, and our last president made the whole thing worse specifically worse just to cater to them. And I hear that in a lot of countries where people don't have to fill out tax forms for things the government is absolutely capable of calculating themselves?

I actually think I'm relatively good at this kind of thing--I've had to do it ever since I got my first job. I could probably be a tax preparer myself if I didn't hate it so much. But I'd much rather use those skills for other things. I don't mind accounting type stuff, or making the effort to understand laws (though I think every effort should be made to make laws as clear as possible), but I don't think I should have to be using those skills because something has been made unnecessarily complex. Life is hard enough without that.
