I think humility is a good quality, and it's something I strive for. This doesn't mean I don't want to have self-esteem or self-confidence, because I think it's important not to undervalue oneself. But humility isn't the same as not valuing the self--it's about viewing others as also being valuable and worthy of respect and compassion.
