About Me

I write fanfic, discuss fiction, and talk about real life. I have an intense fascination with math and science. I also enjoy cooking, mainly because I enjoy eating the results. I love rabbits. I also have a pillowfort that I use quite frequently.

I accept both compliments and concrit for my fanfic. If you have a comment that is genuine and comes from a place of actually wanting to say something helpful, I will be interested in hearing it. Some things may be difficult to hear, and I do not guarantee agreement, but I appreciate even quite critical comments as long as they have some substance to them. Criticism helps me better understand how other people see my work, and thus increases my own ability to understand my work and its shortcomings so that I can further improve as a writer.

Likewise, I accept both compliments and constructive criticism about myself. I believe a person should always strive for improvement, which is difficult to do if they won't hear critical thoughts about themselves. I try to give all criticism a fair hearing. Nevertheless, I do not accept harassment and anyone directing such behavior at me will be dealt with as I deem appropriate, regardless of the validity of their criticism. The Internet and social media seem to encourage some bad behaviors in people, and as someone who has to navigate a social landscape, no approach to criticism by me would be complete without considering how to respond to people overstepping their bounds. I am understanding of how the Internet may blur boundaries in a lot of ways, making this much more difficult for people, but nevertheless these behaviors are both wrong and harmful and so I must address them. It's okay to be blunt or emotive to me about important issues, but threats or behaving as if entitled to my time and energy are not behaviors I find acceptable. Therefore please be mindful of how you are conducting yourself around me. You have been warned.

Additionally, I simply don't always get along with people, and so I may unfollow, block, or ban people for both trivial and serious reasons. No one is going to get along with everyone, and certainly no one wants everyone else in their personal space all the time, even if they are otherwise fine with them. And so I use whatever tools I have available to limit my exposure to others to a level that I can handle.

I have a policy of avoiding the disclosure of personal information and I am an advocate for viewing privacy as a vital component of personal autonomy. I do not necessarily mind if people ask me more personal questions, but I am also unlikely to answer such questions. Please keep in mind that I do not view others as entitled to any piece of personal info they might wish to demand of me. You may choose to disclose whatever information you feel comfortable doing so, and I will do the same (by keeping my personal details [redacted]). I do not flirt or seek romantic partners with people on social media, and I ask that others refrain from doing either of those things with me. I do not expect anyone to tell me anything that I would not tell them (or even things I *would* tell them), but they may if they wish to. While privacy is important to me, I can also understand how important it can be to people to share things about themselves with others. Still, there's also nothing wrong with withholding information if you have reason to believe disclosure could potentially harm yourself or others, or even if you just feel like it.

Politics and social justice are quite important to me, but I don't have the energy or the temperament to be as involved in activism as I'd like. This is something I'm working to address, but I doubt will come easily to me. I view different aspects of social justice as very much connected and I'm very much a multi-issue kind of person. I'm not really sure I can very clearly articulate my politics. I am a leftist but in my experience there's a fairly wide range of belief sets associated with that word, and they don't all comfortably agree or get along.
