Rush Clovis and Darth Plagueis
So I've now seen more than one 'Rush Clovis was raised by Darth Plagueis' post and while I'm always down for speculation about Star Wars characters I do have to wonder why this is surfacing now? As far as I can tell, it's all based on stuff that's been known since The Clone Wars Season 6. It seems none of the materials actually confirms the muun banker who adopted him was Plagueis specifically, so that's just speculation. Maybe it's just because more people know about Clovis since he was in the recent Padme novel? Or maybe because people are rewatching the old episodes from TCW after season 7 was released?
I actually have a different backstory for Clovis that I use in my Cut Strings story, so I'm sticking with that regardless of what canon or fanon does, but it's always interesting to me to see what's going on in the Star Wars Darth Plagueis fandom.

(I do, however, like the scene where Dooku decides to go along with an unlikely Sith candidate and subtly tries to signal Palpatine. I might prefer it staged with like, Jar Jar (c.f. that one fic that's a rewrite of a Padme/Anakin scene but has Binks approaching Sidious in hopes of becoming a Sith, iirc) or something)
For one thing, although I don't think I've actually seen much if any of Clovis, I'm pretty sure I don't like him. And then, well, I think it's somewhere in the emotional neighborhood with «only child who heavily projects onto Palpatine» and «visceral reaction to some ~"old boys' club" situations» (I get the latter sometimes in the Darth Plagueis novel.
San feels more like a nephew, but I don't think of Palpatine as Damask's adoptive son either. I'm not sure Palpatine would like being considered a son anyway, and mrmph it just feels like it has a different dimension than a parental relationship. (nor do I think Plagueis regards Tenebrous as a father, though I think Hego's conception of "father" is still emotionally and physically distant.)

It doesn't really work with my conception of the characters, either, especially since Clovis states during the the Rise of Clovis that his wife (where the 'his' is possibly ambiguous but I think it makes the most sense if it refers to the muun who raises him) died in the same accident his father did and that he was raised with the muun's other children. This indicated to me that the muun in question *wasn't* Plagueis, which is why I think my answer to who that muun banker was makes a lot more sense in context of that statement. Plus I just like it better, so even if 'Plagueis raised Rush Clovis' were to become canon, I wouldn't be adopting that interpretation haha. I am very curious where that theory comes from, though, since as I said, it doesn't seem to be due to any new information being released about that, and Clovis himself is a relatively minor character.
I really like the original Sith Jar-Jar idea, but I often don't care for riffs on the idea any more than I enjoy the character (who is possibly my least favorite prequels character). I think I'm very sensitive to certain specificities in that case. In general I really like the gungans a lot, though I have very strong preferences to how they are portrayed.
I think the Sith Master-Apprentice relationship isn't really analogous to other types of relationships. Especially given that the end goal is for the Apprentice to kill the Master, it's not even analogous to a typical mentor-student relationship haha. But I've seen people superimpose a number of different relationship types over that, and I can even see a bit of humor in superimposing an ill-fitted parent-child relationship over a Sith Master-Apprentice relationship, though I can also understand if there's too much 'nope' in that concept for you. I know I certainly have a lot of very strong preferences regarding how relationships are depicted myself, and that definitely affects my response to fictional relationships a lot even though I maybe don't really project onto characters at all (the 'maybe' is because that statement probably depends a lot on what is meant by projection, but what I mean is I don't really ever see a character and think 'this is me' or 'this character is a lot like me'--for my favorite characters, it's more 'this character appeals to something in me a lot').
I really liked the idea of San Hill being a sort of adoptive nephew to Plagueis so much that I put it in both my Star Wars long-fic. I often reuse ideas that I really like, and I felt it just fit really naturally into my Sith redemption fic even though I came up with it before I'd even thought of that story.
I think what really gets me for 'Rush Clovis is Plagueis' adopted son' flash fanfic idea the most is that it seems to imply that Palpatine would consider Clovis some significant obstacle to his plans if he was his 'brother'. I just find that hilarious for the likely entirely unintended reasons that a.) Palpatine killed all his siblings and b.) *spoilers about Clovis in TCW I'm not sure if you want me to go into*.
