Rush Clovis and Darth Plagueis

So I've now seen more than one 'Rush Clovis was raised by Darth Plagueis' post and while I'm always down for speculation about Star Wars characters I do have to wonder why this is surfacing now? As far as I can tell, it's all based on stuff that's been known since The Clone Wars Season 6. It seems none of the materials actually confirms the muun banker who adopted him was Plagueis specifically, so that's just speculation. Maybe it's just because more people know about Clovis since he was in the recent Padme novel? Or maybe because people are rewatching the old episodes from TCW after season 7 was released?

I actually have a different backstory for Clovis that I use in my Cut Strings story, so I'm sticking with that regardless of what canon or fanon does, but it's always interesting to me to see what's going on in the Star Wars Darth Plagueis fandom.

I know I reblogged the one but I actually really don't like the idea.

(I do, however, like the scene where Dooku decides to go along with an unlikely Sith candidate and subtly tries to signal Palpatine. I might prefer it staged with like, Jar Jar (c.f. that one fic that's a rewrite of a Padme/Anakin scene but has Binks approaching Sidious in hopes of becoming a Sith, iirc) or something)

For one thing, although I don't think I've actually seen much if any of Clovis, I'm pretty sure I don't like him. And then, well, I think it's somewhere in the emotional neighborhood with «only child who heavily projects onto Palpatine» and «visceral reaction to some ~"old boys' club" situations» (I get the latter sometimes in the Darth Plagueis novel.

San feels more like a nephew, but I don't think of Palpatine as Damask's adoptive son either. I'm not sure Palpatine would like being considered a son anyway, and mrmph it just feels like it has a different dimension than a parental relationship. (nor do I think Plagueis regards Tenebrous as a father, though I think Hego's conception of "father" is still emotionally and physically distant.)

Y'know what? I think Plagueis regards his relationship with Sidious as an iteration of something like what he had with Tenebrous, but San as being more like he was for Caar.
