More Microblogging Griping

Twitter threads are...a bad communication pattern.  Unfortunately Twitter has made microblogging platforms incredibly popular, so even if Twitter turns over and dies I don't think microblogging is going anywhere.  There are a lot of issues with such threads in the way they impact not only the form of speech but also the content.  Also, if there's anything worse than trying to shove a coherent idea into a thread like this, it's screenshotting such a thread for wider distribution.

Also, I'd like to go into my thought process behind this a little more sometime, since it might not be inherently obvious why I think this.  I don't have any studies in mind or anything like that (though that's something I'd be interested in looking at), but I do have a more detailed thought process behind these statements that may or may not resemble what someone else thinks about this issue.
