Possibly a Mild Concussion
Oct. 1st, 2019 02:08 pm Hit my head yesterday. Actually went to the doctor, specifically urgent care, because I wanted to get an opinion besides the one from Dr. Internet Search lol. Usually I don't do that just because I dislike going to the doctor for most things, but I was worried about my brain, which is overall a pretty important organ to me, and damage to the brain can impair ability for self-evaluation, so I thought it was best to get an outside opinion. The doctor took a look at my eyes and ears (probably to check for unusual eye dilation and ear bleeds) and had me do some coordination tests. His assessment was that at worst I had a mild concussion, and possibly not one at all, but that I should rest and determine what I felt up to based on how I was feeling. To be on the safe side, I've decided to stay home from work today because I still don't feel 100% even though my assessment and the assessment of other people who observed me agreed with the doctor's that I seemed to be acting pretty normal and not unusually confused or uncoordinated even relatively shortly after the injury. I just don't feel like I'm 'all there', which is my major reason for thinking I may have a mild concussion. The effect of not-all-thereness was particularly pronounced shortly after the event, but is something I feel to a lesser degree today as well. I didn't pass out at any point, and I didn't lose memory of the event causing the head injury, so those are both good signs at least. I'll just have to wait and see how this resolves itself, though.
