On the one hand, I don't think I'm really cut out for the level of political advocacy some people decide to take up online. I also realize there's a lot of things I don't have adequate background to comment on, and I think it's best to avoid advocating for a position if you're going to be forced to base it primarily on the intensity of your feelings or degree of your confidence in it rather than the quality of your arguments or veracity of your facts. I also have trouble communicating things at times. And I think that people with limited skill in this area can end up doing more harm than good if they advocate badly for good positions.
On the other, I absolutely do think online advocacy is valuable and has an impact in the right contexts. Additionally, even if I think I still have uneven communication skills, I also think the overall level of those has gone up over time. I know also that it is often necessary to make major decisions and commit to positions in short time-frames with limited knowledge, with the understanding that you might have to change those positions later if you discover you are wrong. I also think I'ma little coward overly conflict avoidant and need to work on that issue.
