I've finally started to get back into reading, and I'm on a sci-fi kick right now!
What I've Read Recently:
Bunny by Mona Awad
The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu
The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu
Death's End by Cixin Liu
The Redemption of Time by Baoshu
Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
Binti: Home by Nnedi Okorafor
The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow
Books I'm Currently Reading
Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee
Supernova Era by Cixin Liu
Some Possible Near Future Reads
Binti: The Night Masquerade by Nnedi Okorafor
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin
Raven Strategem by Yoon Ha Lee
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
I've long had difficulties getting back into reading novels and I think part of the issue was that I was telling myself that I couldn't start a new novel until I'd finished anything I was currently reading. Instead I've decided to start anything that catches my eye and just continue it if it holds interest for me at the time. Both the books I'm currently reading are pretty good and I'm looking forward to reading more in the future. I'm certainly open to reading genres other than sci-fi even if they aren't my typical reads, but I'm probably more likely to read a sci-fi or fantasy novel on impulse than I am other genres. The only thing listed above that isn't science or sci-fi is Bunny, though one could classify it as fantasy I guess lol. Also I'm very happy about having read The Grand Design--it's one of the very few nonfiction books I've read in their entirely. I usually just flip through nonfiction books and read only the portions that catch my eye.
