Maturity is Valuable
Feb. 28th, 2020 07:29 pmPeople dismiss the value of maturity so much, I feel. Maturity is so often associated with someone being boring. And even when it isn't, a lot of people associate it with things like following societal norms or politeness or subserviance, none of which...are what maturity actually is. I always felt mature for my age as a kid, but I was very immature compared to myself today. I gained a lot of maturity in those intervening years. And I hope that I will continue to gain maturity for the rest of my life. Maturity is an essential part of the mental toolset that allows us to acknowledge reality and *change* ourselves and the world around us. And I can think of nothing less boring than being able to remake ourselves to be better people or to actually make a difference in this world.
