If there's one thing I've realized, it's that there will always be value to learning things for as long as I live. Not only will I never know everything, I won't even know all of the important things. And not only that, but to continue to aquire knowledge is not merely to be writing new information into my mind, but to constantly be overwriting incorrect knowledge. I have to realize I'm wrong, again and again and again, that my understanding is too simplistic, that it always will be, and yet, at the same time, I must not doubt myself too much. To lack confidence without good reason opens one up to as much error as to have confidence without good reason. The only difference is who is determining what those errors will be.
