Knowledge Is Power
Feb. 21st, 2024 08:00 pmA concept that I think is generally applicable for whatever you might be trying to do is that knowledge is power. While it's true that knowledge by itself can accomplish nothing, knowledge combined with action is much more valuable than action without knowledge. Action without knowledge has no more probability of success than random chance, but action informed by the right information can make success nearly certain. At the very least, even if the actions you can take are very limited, knowledge can make your actions much more effective than they otherwise would be.
At the same time, we must typically act with incomplete knowledge, since we have limited time to act, sometimes very limited depending on how time sensitive a given situation is. So it's very important to be able to accept one's own fallibility and be willing to correct future actions, and to always be trying to improve and question our understanding of the world.
I think this idea is important for improving at work skills, life skills, hobbies, and activism, among other things.
