I made some savory garnet yam fries and a savory garnet yam mash earlier, both of which I enjoyed greatly (fyi garnet yams are actually a type of sweet potato, not a type of yam). I like making savory foods with sweet potatoes, and I'm trying to figure out what recipes I like best.  I've heard sweet potatoes are pretty healthy so I want to eat more of them, but I actually don't find a lot of the simpler ways they're dessertified very appealing (and am often not willing to exert the effort to create the more complex recipes).  I also crave savory food more often than sweets, even if I do have a noticeable sweet tooth.

I haven't done it with Garnet yams, but now and then I like to make roasted sweet potato cubes with ...let's see--cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and probably a little cayenne? Maybe I've put some cumin and/or coriander in there before. (cut them up, oil them with 1-2 tablespoons oil, and then add some spices)

I once made a chowder recipe off the back of a creamed corn can (because one of the cornbread recipes we like involves ...part of a can of creamed corn) that had both regular and sweet potatoes in it. I imagine they'd go well in at least some other soups.

I've seen the suggestion to treat sweet potatoes kinda like baked potatoes albeit with different topping suggestions, so there's that.
