I have received several comments on my fanfic lately, which is a little surprising to me.  It's always a little surprising to me to see comments on my fanfic.  I'm glad people are enjoying the fics, even if I have always had a priority to write the kinds of stories I want to see and not the kinds of stories that will necessarily be widely enjoyed.  I do share them because I hope someone out there will find them a worthwhile experience, though, so it's nice when that can happen.  I wrote some more in Cut Strings yesterday and want to get myself to write more often again so I can actually update these things some more!

I just have this tendency to come up with these really complex ideas.  I find longer stories very motivating because they allow me the space to explore such ideas.  But they are also inherently challenging.  There's a lot to keep track of.  And when one is trying to significantly restructure a long narrative like The Clone Wars (as I am in Cut Strings) or completely reimagine a time span of several decades (like I am in Heart of Shadow) that poses some particularly large challenges.  Why don't I simply pick easier stories to tell?  Because the challenge is part of the motivating factor for me.  But also, I just have a lot to say, and that simple doesn't tend to fit into shorter stories or more conventional storytelling structures.
