I really wish people wouldn't try to make covid-19, a disease that has had a huge mortality toll on the older generation and appears to cause the majority of its deaths in that demographic, out to be some sort of boomers victimizing millennials thing. It's in poor taste, especially when a number of politicians have repeatedly implied that the old should just be willing to die for the economy's sake. I've said before that I think that this belief in oppressive boomers and victimized millennials is just simple ageism, and this certainly doesn't change my position on that.
When more than one in ten old people who get this virus are going to die from it, it just would be nice if people had a bit more sensitivity about this and didn't assume that all old people are rich or white, as perhaps some of the white people who say and agree with this kind of thing seem to think. Also, we live in a time period where many old people can't retire so many of them are also considered essential workers who are being exposed to this and dying from it. Others are dying by the droves in terribly managed nursing homes.
