Pruned a couple of the ramble-tags on my Cut Strings fic and added a search tag for 'Fake Marriage' on my Heart of Shadow fic since it definitely has that trope going on.  I like some degree of ramble tags on a fic (both on the ones I read and the ones I write) because I feel that they can preview aspects of the fic that the summary or the more conventional tags can't as easily do, but I think they should be limited in number and should supplement rather than replace the more functional tags.  Also felt my 'Marriage of Convenience' tag didn't quite encapsulate the entire dynamic I have going on with Talzin/Palpatine in that fic, so I hoped the new tag might better communicate that.

I have so many thoughts rattling around in my head that I'd love to transcribe into posts, but alas, I must...do tasks.

Since I'm planning on phasing out ffnet for my fic at some point (though I want to post one more chapter of each fic and then discuss the phase-out in the author's note, so it's sort of a long-term plan haha), I've been thinking about where to put an alternative copy of my fic from AO3.  I love AO3 for fic, but I don't ever want to be stuck with only one cloud copy of my stories so I need them to have at least one more online location.  Given the reasons I'm leaving ffnet, that somewhat limits my options.  But I think Dreamwidth or Pillowfort are two possibilities.

I was originally reluctant to use any kind of general-purpose social media site, but I realized that if I made a blog or community for each of my long fic, I could still organize them chapter-by-chapter in the way I wanted.  And the short fic I could just add to my main blog here and link in my profile or something.  And as an added bonus, I could add chapter-specific tags, which is a concept I really like because I love enabling more search functionality.  Like sometimes I will skim or search through a longfic looking for particular parts of interest to me, and that would really enable that capability to a much greater degree for my fic.

So, that's probably what I'll do.

I personally think that the stock market gets way too much attention as an economic entity to the detriment of other aspects of the economy, but I can't help but find this current development...interesting, to say the least:

The stock market is so extremely cursed.

So stocks aren't really money any more than bitcoin is (despite what the latter attempts to pass itself off as), but if they were, then wouldn't selling stocks for cash just be an extreme form of currency arbitrage?

While I think a lot of people agree that we need to move away from conventional agriculture, I think the difficult questions are how to do that and what specific changes should be made to ensure the system doesn't end up feeding even less people than what we have now and how to reduce the ecological footprint of agriculture.  What analytical tools can we use to properly evaluate our results?

I think people make a big deal about local agriculture when a lot of the inputs for that agriculture are not local.  I think local agriculture should use native and noninvasive inputs.  I also don't think the goal should be 100% local--I think trade between localities and countries will always be important for a reasonable standard of living, but it should be used to supplement local resources, not replace them.  I think strategies for local agriculture must take into account the local climate.  There are many ancient techniques that can help in this regard for a wide variety of climates.  Furthermore, we're no longer so limited in comparing locations with similar climates.  Reviewing the strategies used in (or since) antiquity for similar climates in different parts of the world might be instructive.  I also think local agriculture may in certain cases benefit from a third supplement--local high-tech agriculture.  This would be local in the sense that most people think of local agriculture today in that it would be produced locally, but it would utilize technology to make up for some of the deficiencies that certain climates or environments may have to produce more foods and more different types of food.  I'm thinking of things like aquaponics, indoor agriculture (either with greenhouses or artificial lighting), and other innovations.

I also think that putting an end to the extractive nature of the modern economy is important both for humanity and the environment.  When someone who isn't affected by the harms done to a community can make all the major decisions for that community, and when their goal is personal profit above all else, no good can come of that, for either people or the environment.

Anyway, I'm just trying to solidify some of my thoughts here.
