On the one hand, writing fanfiction can be extremely revealing in what it says about one's personality. Nevertheless, there's a certain amount of obscurity to it, because it greatly limits 1) who has the context to understand it 2) who is willing to read it, and 3) who is able to decipher what parts are characteristic of you vs what's there simply for characterization, plot, etc. purposes.
Ah, my secrets are safe with you, longfic.
Ramble-tags: like it is revealing to an extent, but not in the same way as a personal blog post?, that's how I feel anyway, though I try not to make even my fiction too revealing of my personal traits, but it's unavoidable to some extent, a story is just one big lie, but you end up telling some of the truth in it anyway, still, a reader discovering that requires them sifting the truth from the lies, point 2 might not be as big a cover for more popular authors, but even then, how many people who hate them regularly hate-read through their fics as opposed to hate-reading their social media?, I'd bet that's a pretty unbalanced ratio
