Writing Outside The Comfort Zone

I am currently trying to work on writing more things outside my comfort zone. I think it can be good for someone's writing to spend some time writing outside of their comfort zone. Still, I'm not of the mindset that something is necessarily improving one's writing simply because it's outside of those bounds.  But there are definitely things that I would like to be able to write that provoke some amount of discomfort in me.  So this is one thing I'm going to try to work on because I do want to continue to develop my writing ability.
