Musings on Selfishness

I think there's a certain deep-set selfishness that I have, and while I suspect that helps to preserve my ability to function in this world, I do realize it can also negatively impact other people. But I absolutely do think selfishness can be important for self-preservation in a world that is constantly asking too much of people. Basically, I think that it's both vital and something that needs to be carefully directed.
