The Unneeded Twitter Account
Jul. 24th, 2023 10:13 amPeople are so afraid that if they stop using Twitter they won't know what's going on there. But:
1. Twitter is inescapable. If I moved off-grid and became a forest hermit, someone would send me a letter via snail mail to tell me about the latest Twitter drama. I would see it as a front page news article on my paper newspaper. I'd be assisting a person whose car broke down near my forest cabin, and they'd tell me 'did you know Twitter just changed their name to X'? A raven would land on my windowsill and recite a Twitter ad to me verbatim.
2. While the login wall prevents me from browsing Twitter accounts and reading threads, the site can also not be effectively browsed from the site's own interface. Unless you are only trying to browse random 'influencers' or ads, that is.
3. I can in fact obtain psychological damage for free, without Twitter, and without my online presence further enriching a man with unimaginable billions whose only use for those resources is to perpetuate as much suffering and pain on others as possible.
