Am reading the new Padme novel right now. This really hits the spot for me.  Space politics, that's what I'm talkin' about!  Looks like I'll finally get some answers to how the Senate (as in the body of politicians and not the singular Sith politician who calls himself that, though he's naturally in here too) works. Though some of the stuff in this novel contradicted some stuff I thought was canon, but maybe I just didn't watch Attack of the Clones closely enough.

I am a little less than halfway through.

Glad to hear it! I find SW novels really hit-or-miss, but I've been looking forward to this one because the description pings so many of the interests on my radar (Padmé! Handmaidens! Space politics! Especially Clone-Wars era space politics).

Well, it certainly delivers on all of those fronts! There was a part I had a really negative reaction too, but otherwise I found it to be an enjoyable read for those reasons as well. There was one part I felt could have been better developed, but on the whole, I think it wrapped up decently well.

Padme is one of my favorite characters, and of the prequels trio characters, she's the one I personally find the most interesting. She's one of those characters I think I'd hate if they were a real person, but who I find really fun to explore as a fictional character.

Ugh, I want to get myself to write a review on this novel!
