Disney is Still Evil
Dec. 15th, 2022 11:37 pmDisney putting out one show I think is actually good doesn't change my stance that they are evil, and have always been evil. I liked a few of their cartoons, too. But the truth is, they're a company built on exploiting their workers, a company that doesn't really care about art, a company that has helped to create the political nightmare we all currently live in. I refuse to knowingly and willingly give them money. Right now I'm still able to watch Star Wars shows for...reasons, but if that were to change, I still wouldn't give them a dime.
I'm confident I'll be able to stick to this stance too, because I've never paid for a single cable or tv subscription service in my life. I've never even bought a television in my life, and never regretted that decision.
I don't really think boycotting is the answer to evil companies, since most of them are evil, and it's not reasonable to try to boycott all evil companies. And it's important to recognize this fact, too, to know the problem is not just 'a few bad apples'. This problem requires political solutions if we are to ultimately address it. Boycotting itself is mostly effective only when its done collectively and strategically, rather than individually. Nevertheless, I also don't see any reason to pay a company I find morally repugnant and whose services I can personally avoid.
