Memory, The Limitations Thereof
Aug. 6th, 2021 05:21 pmWhen I was a kid I could remember not only most of the stuff I read (photographic memory) but also nearly everything that ever happened to me, which I'm a little sad is not something I can still do. Though I've long thought that part of that is it's easier to remember fewer things than it is to remember more things.
Like, my impression is still that my memory is pretty decent, but also I forget words I know a lot and I hate that bewildered feeling when I realize I don't remember what I even did yesterday. It's also galling that I don't properly remember much of a lot of the books I've fully read when I used to be like 'why would I ever reread a book when I could just replay the whole thing back in my head like a movie'.
