Lord Terrin
Aug. 26th, 2020 05:45 pmBeen thinking about my Ascent OC Lord Terrin and how in addition to being his own character he's basically also a fragment of canon Ghirahim that didn't work with my AU version but that I nonetheless wanted to play around with in my fictional world. Lord Terrin basically embodies the devoted and determined servant aspect of Ghirahim, as well as giving me a way to incorporate Demise into the story of Ascent and to more closely connect him to the events taking place. Since in my AU Demise is long dead before the events of the story take place and Ghirahim has never met him and has no personal connection to him (though he has a more impersonal link to him via his sword form), Terrin instead is the character who is the instrument of his will. Though unlike canon Ghirahim, his master is long dead and so he can no longer receive orders directly from him. This gives an added layer of unreliability to his statements about Demise, since he can only guess what his long dead master would have wanted.
I've also had a lot of fun making Terrin otherwise quite different from Ghirahim. He has no interest in the theatricality Ghirahim revels in, and his preferred weapon isn't the sword, it's the crossbow. So he's meant to be a foil to Ghirahim while also having aspects of the canon version that my AU version doesn't.
Anyway, I've been writing some new notes on him and my Ascent story in general and having fun with that. Someday this stuff may even gel into new chapters. I know it's been forever haha.
