...I feel like this invites interesting questions about the logistics of malfunctions in personal aircraft, but also I don't know how to answer this because presumably speeders could have problems which it is not possible to amend by jumpstart?

(I also suspect (sigh) that he would not be permitted to drive around by himself as Chancellor)

Well, it's not possible to edit a Dreamwidth poll, but I did create a new poll that is an expanded version of this question. I hope you find the options for it more comprehensive than this one. Personally, my opinion is that if his guards don't prevent him from going off to visit Count Dooku in his Secret Sith Hideout on Coruscant, they aren't going to stop him from doing a little serriptitious speeder repair. But you are welcome to give your opinion on the more comprehensive poll if you like.
